Simmer Pot Recipe
Hey Y’all,
I hope all is well. I am writing to you on this beautiful Sunday to share a recipe of ritual and aromatherapy goodness. On Sundays, many of us are taking it easy, moving slow, cleansing our space, or all three. Much like my mother did, I put on some good old school music and then start my day with a cup of tea. While I am cleansing my space physically, I also like to cleanse it energetically with aromatherapy. Open the windows and get some incense rolling through the house, maybe burn a little bit of Cedar. I also enjoy creating a Simmer Pot.
Okay, so you’re wondering what is a Simmer Pot? I got you. It’s a pretty simple concept.
A simmer pot is a pot that contains:
- Water
- Herbs (fresh or dried)
- Spices
- Essential oils
- Fruit
The sole purpose of the Simmer Pot is the diffusion of aromatics in the home for whatever intention you desire. They are also pretty to look at as you create them.
The pot is placed on the stove on medium heat. It never comes to a boil hence the use of the word ‘simmer’. Leave the pot for an allotted amount of time of your choosing or until the water gets low. Below is the recipe I created today with the intention of a happy, protected, relaxing home environment.
- Fill pot of your choice with water (mine was 2.5 liters)
- Dried Rosemary
- Dried Chamomile
- Cinnamon powder or cinnamon sticks
- Lavender Essential oil - 7 drops
- 1 chopped apple
- 1 sliced tangerine
Stir clockwise with your desired intention and let the aromatherapy do its job.
I hope you enjoy!
